JOINT WEBSITE OF GERMAN SCHOOLS IN NORTH AMERICA

International Abitur Curriculum

While DIA schools around the world implement the curriculum slightly differently based on the needs of their regional area, all DIA schools are based on the same rigorous core college preparatory curriculum. In addition to languages, students receive instruction in core subject areas such as math, sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), history and social studies (in North America both European and either American or Canadian), economics, geography, art and music. Each school has its own offerings and schedules. The German curriculum, recognized for both its depth and breadth, emphasizes the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills, challenges students to think, speak, read and write in at least two languages, and encourages students to place what they learn in a global context.

Bilingual Instruction

While a minimum of half of DIA subjects are taught in German, some subjects are taught exclusively in English and several are taught bilingually. For detailed curriculum information, please visit the individual websites of our network schools or contact their Admissions Coordinators.

Small Class Sizes

The average class size at most DIA schools in North America is less than 20 students. This creates an ideal cooperative learning environment where students are encouraged to express themselves freely while working together toward shared goals. Teachers get to know their students well and can tailor instruction to each student's abilities and interests.
